About the role#
HNTB is seeking a Co-op Engineer to join the Rail/Track Department in Pennsylvania. This role provides an opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced engineers on passenger and transit system projects, including high-speed rail design and state of good repair initiatives. This is a paid, full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the preparation of design documents for trackwork, including alignments, drainage, grading, and estimates.
- Develop an understanding of environmental mitigation and the fundamentals of transit and high-speed rail design and construction.
- Develop CAD drafting skills and assist in the preparation of engineering drawings.
- Participate in field visits and client meetings.
- Perform research and engineering calculations to support project development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program, with a preference for students who have completed at least two years of study in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge of drafting software such as AutoCAD, Microstation, OpenRail, OpenRoads, or REVIT.
- A foundational understanding of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to organize information, perform basic calculations, and apply direction from supervisors.

- Term: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site.
