About the role#
Hitachi Rail is seeking an intern to join our RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) team for the Summer 2027 term. This role provides exposure to safety engineering within the urban transit sector. You will support the team in developing and conducting technical safety studies to ensure our systems perform their intended functions throughout their lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Organize, schedule, and monitor project RAMS and V&V activities.
- Assist the project RAMS team in meeting safety requirements.
- Manage workloads and analyze deviations to project schedules.
- Align RAMS schedules with the project master schedule to maintain the critical path.
- Proactively identify risks related to cost, schedule, and technical resources while proposing recovery plans.
- Support the delivery of project RAMS documentation.
- Assist RAMS engineers with schedule and cost constraints.
- Measure and analyze design safety.
- Recommend test methods and statistical process control procedures.
- Complete risk analysis studies for new designs.
- Perform testing and failure analysis to improve system safety.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an engineering student at a 4-year university.
- Strong technical skills relevant to reliability and safety engineering.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain high attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in English.
