About the role#
Hitachi Rail is hiring an intern for the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) team for Summer 2027. This position is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. You will gain hands-on experience in reliability engineering while supporting projects related to signaling systems for metro and light rail transportation.
What you'll do#
- Organize, schedule, and monitor project RAMS and Verification and Validation (V&V) activities.
- Assist the project RAMS team in meeting safety and reliability requirements.
- Identify necessary competencies and request adequate staffing from functional managers.
- Communicate relevant project information to the Project Manager.
- Support the delivery of project-related RAMS documentation.
- Provide schedule and cost constraints to Product, Signaling, and System RAMS Engineers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an Engineering student at a 4-year university.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.
- Strong technical skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work with various Project Managers at the same time.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
