About the role#
HII Technical Solutions is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineering Intern to support cyber test and evaluation efforts. You will work alongside engineers and analysts to support sensitive missions for the U.S. military and federal agency partners. This role involves hands-on work in a lab environment, focusing on reverse engineering, software and firmware analysis, and prototype development.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the reverse engineering of software, firmware, and hardware systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Support cyber testing and experimentation on operational and prototype platforms.
- Identify and report cyber risks and vulnerabilities in embedded, networked, and RF-connected systems.
- Develop automation tools and analysis scripts using languages like Python or Bash.
- Participate in technical discussions and document findings.
- Collaborate with engineers and mentors to advance team objectives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- A strong interest in cybersecurity, software analysis, or embedded systems.
- Familiarity with basic programming in Python, C, or C++ and command-line interfaces like Linux or Unix.
- Interest in assembling or disassembling hardware and software systems.
- Willingness to work in a secure environment and follow established security protocols.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred qualifications include exposure to reverse engineering tools like Ghidra, IDA Pro, or Binary Ninja, as well as familiarity with operating system internals, low-level development, and machine-level artifacts. Experience with version control, documentation tools, and presenting technical information is also valued.
