About the role#

This is an unpaid internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program, specifically designed for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. The program provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in software engineering and hardware analysis within a cleared, mission-focused environment. Interns work closely with a mentor and senior leadership to contribute to real-world projects while preparing for a potential transition into a full-time career.

What you'll do#

• Train as a Software Engineer within the HII-Mission Technologies division.
• Contribute to live projects focused on microelectronics trust and assurance.
• Gain practical experience with object-oriented programming using C++ and Python.
• Master reverse engineering techniques and develop competency in FPGA design software and hardware description languages.
• Participate in the full development lifecycle, including code review, documentation, and the creation of test suites to validate functionality.
• Learn DoD and cleared facility protocols, version control systems, and collaborative development workflows.

What you'll need#

• Must be active-duty military within the final 180 days of active-duty service.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• The ability to obtain a US DoD-issued security clearance.
