About the role#
This is an unpaid internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program, designed for transitioning active-duty U.S. military personnel within their final 180 days of service. The role provides hands-on training as a Senior Technical Data Maintenance Technician, supporting AFLCMC/WB weapon system programs. Interns work under the supervision of logistics and engineering leads to gain experience in technical data development, sustainment planning, and life-cycle logistics. This training is intended to help participants translate their military maintenance expertise into civilian technical data and sustainment roles.
What you'll do#
- Support technical data reviews, technical order (TO) updates, and logistics analysis.
- Assist in developing, updating, and validating technical data and Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) content.
- Support Life-Cycle Sustainment Plan (LCSP) development, Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) tasks, and sustainment engineering inputs.
- Participate in depot-related planning activities and sustainment documentation.
- Translate aircraft maintenance experience into technical data and sustainment requirements.
- Collaborate with logistics, engineering, and program management teams to strengthen documentation discipline and cross-functional skills.
What you'll need#
- Active-Duty Military status within the final 180 days of service.
- Minimum of 10 years of logistics-relevant DoD experience.
- 10 years of verifiable experience maintaining military aircraft in a flight line environment.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a SAP and/or SCI environment.
- Expertise in maintaining aircraft electrical and environmental (E&E) systems.
- Experience developing, using, and maintaining USAF Technical Orders.
- Working knowledge of USAF TO 00-5-3, AIA/ASD S1000D specifications, and MIL-STD-3048.
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Management, Engineering, or a related technical field.
