About the role#
The Sales & Marketing Intern will gain hands-on exposure to the day-to-day operations of a hotel Sales, Revenue Management, Events, and Marketing teams. You will work alongside hospitality professionals to learn how these departments collaborate to generate business and support hotel performance. This role involves managing inquiries, communicating with clients, and organizing sales and event information while gaining experience with industry systems like Delphi FDC and Opera.
What you'll do#
- Answer telephone and email messages.
- Assist in the smooth operation of the office.
- Greet guests, clients, and employees.
- Distribute daily logs, resumes, site event details, and event guarantees.
- Take and distribute inquiries.
- Work with Delphi FDC and Opera systems.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required by management.
- Stay current with relevant computer programs and innovations.
What you'll need#
- College course work in a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
- Must reside in the New York market.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
- Strong listening skills to understand and clarify concerns from guests and employees.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions.
- Ability to show initiative and anticipate operational needs.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of information.
- Willingness to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
- Adherence to Highgate Hotel standards regarding attendance, personal appearance, and grooming.
