Intern (Fall)

About the role#

KCRA/KQCA TV is seeking a Newsroom Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This internship provides an opportunity to understand how a television station functions and the various roles required to serve the community. Interns will gain experience by shadowing teams across multiple departments, including the Assignment Desk, TV News Production, Digital News Production, Sports, and Weather.

What you'll do#

• Assist team members in gathering news and information from reporters, sources, and government agencies.
• Practice writing and formatting scripts for broadcast and daily sportscasts.
• Research and write content for digital platforms, including the website and mobile app.
• Assist with field work, news gathering, and location shoots alongside reporters or photographers.
• Analyze weather charts and models, prepare forecasts, and produce weather graphics.
• Monitor sports feeds, log events, and research team statistics.
• Assist with social media efforts and email communication.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program related to Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
• An interest in television news production.
• A basic understanding of news gathering processes.
• Strong communication skills.
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• A willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks.

• Location: Sacramento, California.
• Modality: On-site.
• Term: Fall 2026 (10 to 12 weeks).
• Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
