About the role#
Hatch is seeking a Site/Civil Engineering Intern to join the Project Delivery Group. You will work from our Houston office to support projects related to mining, energy, and infrastructure. This role offers the chance to apply your academic learning to real-world projects while working alongside experienced engineers.
What you'll do#
- Execute civil scope tasks including earthworks, roads, buried services, and stormwater drainage.
- Prepare detailed designs and drawings based on project specifications.
- Coordinate with other technicians to design drainage and utility systems.
- Conduct site inspections and surveys to support project planning.
- Assist senior engineers and designers with project reports and documentation.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders to ensure project quality.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations.
- Participate in team meetings and stay current on industry practices.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling and 2D drafting concepts.
- Understanding of design concepts for roads, earthworks, and water management.
- Knowledge of engineering and business fundamentals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges.
- Engineering in Training Certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months is highly desirable.

- Location: Houston, Texas.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- The role operates on a rolling basis.
- Work modality is on-site with some flexibility for remote work.
