About the role#
Hatch is seeking a Pyrometallurgy Engineering student for a paid internship starting in Winter 2027. This full-time role is based on-site in Mississauga, Ontario. You will work on client-driven projects to support the metals business and gain hands-on experience in a technical environment.
What you'll do#
- Solve engineering challenges related to process metallurgy, high temperature thermochemistry, and pyrometallurgical processes.
- Assist with the research and development of new metallurgical and process technologies.
- Develop and test process models and simulation tools.
- Prepare engineering deliverables and calculations, including mass and energy balances, design criteria, and facility layouts.
- Create technical reports and presentations for clients.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a 3rd or 4th year student in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
- A strong academic record.
- Knowledge of process metallurgy, high temperature thermochemistry, thermodynamics, and extractive or material processes.
- Experience preparing process calculations, mass and energy balances, and process drawings.
