About the role#
The Advisory business practice serves as the management consulting arm of Hatch. We help clients in the mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors solve complex business problems. We combine technical, social, environmental, and business expertise to deliver evidence-based solutions. As a Co-op Student, you will assist in consulting engagements by collecting, analyzing, and presenting data to inform client business decisions.
What you'll do#
- Deconstruct high-level information to identify fundamental drivers and aggregate data for a holistic understanding.
- Evaluate information from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts.
- Develop or assist in the preparation of cost models, financial models, and business cases.
- Communicate and collaborate with team members to analyze information needs and deliver written, presentation, and verbal reports.
- Collate and summarize information using data sources, document analysis, workshops, surveys, and business process descriptions.
- Prepare cases and scenarios to assist analysts and consultants.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze tradeoffs between objectives and business performance.
- Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and provide administrative support.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Engineering, Science, Business, Commerce, or Economics program with at least two years completed.
- Excellent academic standing.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to research, filter, and summarize complex content.
- Good understanding of engineering or business fundamentals.
- Creative problem-solving ability.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
- Prior work terms, co-op experience, or extracurricular involvement are considered assets.
