About the role#
Hanson Professional Services Inc. is hiring interns for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in St. Louis, Missouri; Springfield, Illinois; or Indianapolis, Indiana. You will work with environmental scientists and biologists to navigate NEPA regulations and permitting for public-sector projects.
What you'll do#
- Prepare NEPA documentation for categorical exclusion-level projects, environmental assessments, and environmental impact statements.
- Gather data to support the preparation of environmental reports and studies.
- Help conduct environmental field surveys, including wetland delineations, stream characterizations, tree identification, and threatened species habitat surveys.
- Use ArcGIS Pro to gather environmental data and create exhibits.
- Assist in preparing environmental permit applications.
- Write memoranda, letters, and general reports while maintaining project records.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a relevant field of study, such as Environmental Engineering or Biology.
- Familiarity with Geographic Information System software.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- A valid driver's license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
