About the role#
As a Civil Engineering Intern at Gessner Engineering, you will support our teams in the drafting and design of project deliverables. You will work on active projects while receiving mentorship from experienced engineers and designers. This role focuses on developing both technical proficiency and professional skills through collaboration across multiple disciplines.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with industry professionals including EITs, Senior PEs, and Project Managers.
- Coordinate across internal disciplines like survey, structural, and geotechnical, as well as external sub-consultants.
- Assist with the design of site plans, land development, and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Visit project sites to help with data collection and construction observation.
- Manage your time and workload by planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.
- Learn to design utility pipe networks, perform drainage analysis, size ponds, and develop engineering reports.
- Assist with construction document setup, paving design, and cost estimation.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student in a Civil Engineering degree program.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written formats.
- A solutions-minded approach and a collaborative attitude.
- Initiative to seek out learning opportunities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred, and experience with Civil 3D is a plus.
Location & details#
- Locations: Fort Worth, TX; Georgetown, TX; Bryan, TX.
- Terms: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
- Work schedule: Full-time hours are expected, with specific availability requirements for the term.
- This is a paid internship.
