About the role#
Geotab is seeking a Hardware Developer Intern to support the Hardware team in the design and verification of company devices. This is a 12-month, full-time internship beginning in May 2027. You will work alongside colleagues from the Mechanical, Embedded systems, and Production teams.
What you'll do#
- Design schematics and Printed Circuit Boards using Altium.
- Build and assemble Printed Circuit Assembly prototypes, including soldering.
- Verify hardware against board requirements and debug issues.
- Create test plans and verify new circuit designs.
- Perform testing with oscilloscopes, temperature chambers, and other lab equipment.
- Research new technologies and create professional documentation.
- Maintain physical inventory using databases and Product Lifecycle Management tools.
- Optimize processes through scripting and other solutions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Electrical Engineering degree program or a related field.
- Ability to read schematics.
- Hands-on experience with electronics and soldering.
- Experience with Altium Designer or other ECAD software.
- Experience with RF test equipment.
- Ability to organize data and use databases.
- Scripting experience.
- A desire to learn independently.
Location & details#
- Location: Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Term: Summer 2027 start, 12-month duration.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
- Compensation: Paid internship ($28-$36 CAD per hour).
