About the role#
As an engineering intern with the Critical Infrastructure Communications team, you will contribute to the development of industrial communications equipment. You will work on-site in Rochester, New York, during the Winter or Summer 2027 terms. This is a full-time, paid position focused on software and test automation.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement test cases based on product test plans.
- Create automation scripts using Python and Robot Framework for radio communications products.
- Design, modify, and maintain automated product test suites, including legacy LabVIEW automation.
- Configure test environments using tools like LabVIEW, Test STAND, and Selenium.
- Assemble and maintain hardware configurations and test setups.
- Read and interpret engineering specifications and documentation.
- Report product defects using Jira and track work activities.
- Assist in the development and expansion of engineering test plans.
- Report progress to project management and provide time estimates for tasks.
- Participate in technical training and mentorship programs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a full-time, accredited bachelor's or master's program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Completion of at least two full years of college.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Experience with Python scripting, Linux, and basic computer networking.
- Familiarity with test automation tools such as Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, Cypress, or Robot Framework.
- Experience with version control and CI/CD tools like Git, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple projects.
- A leadership mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively.
Location & details#
- Location: Rochester, New York.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $1,000 to $2,000 USD weekly.
- Relocation: Assistance and housing allowance available for those living more than 50 miles from the work location.
