About the role#
This Military DoD SkillBridge internship provides active-duty service members in their final 180 days of service the opportunity to gain civilian work experience in aviation maintenance. Participants perform engine preparation, inspection, troubleshooting, and test operations for commercial engines at the GE Aerospace Pittsburgh facility. This program operates under Department of Defense Instruction 1322.29, allowing service members to train full-time while maintaining their military compensation and benefits.
What you'll do#
- Execute borescope inspections, validate criteria, record measurements, and coordinate corrective actions.
- Perform and document inspections in accordance with technical references, Repair Station Manuals, and company policies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including EHS, quality, engineering, planning, and materials to support operational initiatives and root cause corrective actions.
- Accurately document work performed and maintain traceability in ERP systems.
- Adhere to technical references such as Aircraft Maintenance Manuals and Engine Shop Manuals.
- Perform shop housekeeping duties and operate shop equipment, including fork trucks and overhead cranes.
What you'll need#
- Active military personnel within the last 180 days of service.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Mechanical and inspection experience, specifically with borescope inspection.
- Ability to travel to remote international locations for extended periods for initial training.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Status as a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) to access export-controlled information.
