Military DoD SkillBridge Internship - On Wing Support Test Technician

About the role#

This Military DoD SkillBridge internship provides active-duty service members in their final 180 days of service the opportunity to gain civilian experience at the GE Aerospace On Wing Support test facility in Pittsburgh, PA. Participants receive training and work experience while continuing to receive their military compensation and benefits. This is a full-time, on-site role.

What you'll do#

• Perform engine testing, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting in accordance with Standard Work, Repair Station Manuals, and GE policies.
• Adhere to technical references, including Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Engine Shop Manuals, and Engine Illustrated Parts Catalogs.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including EHS, quality, engineering, planning, and materials, to support operational and business objectives.
• Document all completed work and book time using the site’s ERP software.
• Participate in shop and housekeeping duties to support 5S and Total Proactive Maintenance initiatives.

What you'll need#

• Current status as active military personnel within the last 180 days of service.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Powerplant Mechanic certification or FAA form 8610-2, with the ability to obtain a Powerplant License before the start date.
• Previous experience with commercial high-bypass turbofan engine testing, including prepping, de-prepping, and engine testing (test cell or on-wing).
• Ability to apply mechanical ingenuity and make independent decisions in a production environment.
• Must meet the status of a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) to access U.S. export-controlled information.
