About the role#
This Military DoD SkillBridge internship offers active-duty service members the opportunity to gain civilian work experience at the GE Aerospace On Wing Support test facility in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This program is open to personnel within their last 180 days of military service. Participants remain on active duty and continue to receive military compensation and benefits throughout the internship.
What you'll do#
- Perform engine testing, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting procedures following Standard Work, Repair Station Manuals, and company policies.
- Adhere to technical references including Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Engine Shop Manuals, and Engine Illustrated Parts Catalogs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in engineering, quality, planning, and materials to support operational goals and site-wide improvement initiatives.
- Document all completed work and track time using the site ERP software.
- Maintain shop standards through participation in 5S and Total Proactive Maintenance initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Active military status within the final 180 days of service.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Federal Aviation Administration Powerplant Mechanic certification or FAA form 8610-2, with the ability to obtain a Powerplant License before the start date.
- Experience with commercial high-bypass turbofan engine testing, including prepping, de-prepping, and engine test procedures.
- Ability to apply mechanical ingenuity to make effective and safe decisions in a production environment.
- U.S. Person status (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) to comply with U.S. export-controlled information requirements.
