    About the role#

    This internship is part of the Military DoD SkillBridge program. It is designed for active-duty service members in their final 180 days of service to gain civilian work experience. You will work on-site at the GE Aerospace On Wing Support test facility in Pittsburgh. Please note that this is an unpaid internship, as participants continue to receive military compensation and benefits.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform engine testing, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting according to Standard Work, Repair Station Manuals, and GE policies.
    • Follow technical references including Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Engine Shop Manuals, and Engine Illustrated Parts Catalogs.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams like EHS, quality, engineering, and materials to support site-wide operational objectives.
    • Document all completed work and track time using the site ERP software.
    • Maintain the shop area through 5S and Total Proactive Maintenance initiatives.

    What you'll need#

    • Active military status within your last 180 days of service.
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Federal Aviation Administration Powerplant Mechanic certification or FAA form 8610-2, with the ability to obtain a Powerplant License before starting.
    • Previous experience with commercial high-bypass turbofan engine testing, including prepping, de-prepping, and engine test procedures.
    • Ability to make decisions and use mechanical ingenuity in a production environment.
    • Must meet the status of a U.S. Person to access export-controlled information.
