About the role#
This Military DoD SkillBridge internship provides active-duty service members with civilian work experience during their final 180 days of service. Participants gain hands-on training in engine testing, maintenance, and inspection at the GE Aerospace On Wing Support facility. This program allows for full-time training while service members continue to receive their military compensation and benefits.
What you'll do#
- Perform engine testing, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting according to Standard Work, technical references, and company policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including EHS, quality, engineering, and materials, to support operational initiatives and site-wide improvements.
- Adhere to technical references such as Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Engine Shop Manuals, and Engine Illustrated Parts Catalogs.
- Document all completed work and track time using the site ERP software.
- Participate in shop and housekeeping duties, including 5S and Total Proactive Maintenance initiatives.
- Maintain availability for flexible shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and travel to international locations for extended training periods.
What you'll need#
- Active military personnel within the last 180 days of service.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year of mechanical experience.
- Federal Aviation Administration Powerplant Mechanic certification.
- Ability to prove status as a U.S. Person to access export-controlled information.
