Military DoD SkillBridge Internship - Test Technician

About the role#

This internship is part of the Military DoD SkillBridge program, designed for service members in their final 180 days of active duty to gain civilian work experience. As a Test Technician intern, you will work at the GE Aerospace On Wing Support facility in Pittsburgh, which provides testing services for commercial engines. This is a full-time, on-site role that requires the ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to travel internationally for extended periods for training.

What you'll do#

• Perform engine testing, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting according to Standard Work, Repair Station Manuals, and technical references.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including EHS, quality, engineering, and materials to support site-wide operational initiatives.
• Follow technical documentation, including Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Engine Shop Manuals, and Illustrated Parts Catalogs.
• Document all completed work and track time using the site’s ERP software.
• Participate in shop housekeeping duties as part of 5S and Total Proactive Maintenance initiatives.

What you'll need#

• Active Military Personnel within the last 180 days of service.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year of mechanical experience.
• Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Powerplant Mechanic certification.
• Ability to prove status as a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) for export control compliance.
