About the role#
The ARS Portfolio Management Internship is a 10-week summer program designed to provide an introduction to the alternative investment industry. You will join the Absolute Return Strategies group to assist in constructing and monitoring customized and commingled portfolios. This role involves working across internal teams to support investment decisions and client relationships.
What you'll do#
- Construct forward-looking portfolio plans that allocate client capital to various hedge funds.
- Use internal risk analytics to analyze hedge fund portfolios and inform allocation decisions.
- Draft portfolio-related correspondence and create customized solutions for client requests.
- Maintain a knowledge base of underlying hedge funds and current investment themes.
- Collaborate with Business Development, Marketing, and Legal teams to prepare portfolio presentations.
- Test portfolio allocation plans for compliance with stated objectives and constraints.
- Participate in weekly department meetings.
- Complete a case study project to present to the Portfolio Management and Risk Management teams.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date in Winter 2027 or Spring 2028.
- Superior academic performance.
- Strong interest in the investment industry, specifically alternative investments.
- High proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate thoughts clearly.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks from start to finish.
- Professionalism, integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
