About the role#
This ten-week internship in Chicago offers an introduction to the alternative investment industry. You will gain experience in identifying, underwriting, and monitoring investments across various strategies, including credit, equities, macro, quant, and relative value. This program is for rising seniors planning a career in investment management.
What you'll do#
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of existing and potential investments.
- Track and interpret trends in specific strategies and capital markets.
- Assess new investment strategies and monitor current conditions.
- Prepare monthly market and investment commentary for internal and external use.
- Communicate hedge fund manager and strategy issues to the Investments department and the Investment Committee.
- Participate in due diligence for potential new investments.
- Attend department and strategy review meetings.
- Complete an industry-related summer project.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a junior or third-year student pursuing a BA or BS.
- Academic concentration in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- Strong academic performance.
- Interest in and knowledge of the investment industry.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage tasks and projects independently.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a changing work environment.
