About the role#
GBA Builders is hiring Field Engineer Interns to support our construction management, general contracting, and design-build services. This role provides hands-on experience across the project lifecycle, from initial estimating and preconstruction to site management and quality control. You will work directly with project managers, clients, and design teams to ensure projects are delivered safely and efficiently.
What you'll do#
- Support project managers with daily tasks, including drawing coordination, safety reporting, and maintaining progress logs.
- Manage project photos and assist with site communication.
- Help with estimating by contacting subcontractors and performing quantity take-offs.
- Assist in project buyout, budget management, and schedule updates.
- Conduct quality control reviews and provide safety support on job sites.
- Attend site visits for new and active projects.
- Interact with clients and the design team to resolve issues.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A genuine interest in the construction industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Previous internship experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Lenexa, Kansas, but requires 100% travel to job sites across the United States.
- You must be comfortable working on active construction sites, which includes standing, climbing, and working at heights using ladders or scaffolds.
- You must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
