About the role#
GateHouse Media is seeking a Summer Intern for a 10-week program focused on newsletter writing, visual storytelling, and social media. This paid position is designed for students and recent graduates looking to build a career in journalism. You will work with editors to cover breaking news, entertainment, features, and sports.
What you'll do#
- Write newsletters to build an engaged audience.
- Create multimedia stories using photography, videography, and text.
- Film, edit, and publish vertical videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Stories.
- Work with newsroom colleagues on story development and visual strategy.
- Produce at least five content packages every week.
- Travel to news locations as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a communications or journalism program with at least one year of college completed.
- Recent graduates and graduate students are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong fact-checking and reporting skills.
- Ability to build relationships with public figures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid driver license, reliable transportation, and state-mandated liability insurance.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- A detail-oriented, flexible, and organized approach to work.
Location & details#
- This is a remote position, but you must reside in California.
- The role is paid at $18 per hour.
- This is a full-time summer internship for 2027.
