About the role#
The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking a sports reporter for a 10-week summer internship. This is a full-time, paid position based in our Minneapolis office. You will work within a major-market newsroom to cover breaking news, live events, and enterprise stories. The role involves reporting on professional and college sports, as well as high school athletics for our Strib Varsity franchise. You will also have opportunities to contribute to video, podcasts, and social media content.
What you'll do#
- Cover breaking news, live events, and high school sports.
- Develop and pitch your own enterprise story ideas.
- Work closely with editors, photographers, and other reporters to produce substantive news.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while working regularly from the office.
What you'll need#
- You must be a college junior, senior, or graduate student majoring in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or English.
- Excellent communication and writing skills are required.
- You should be able to handle deadline pressure and demonstrate flexibility.
- Proficiency with web research tools, social media, and publishing software like InCopy is expected.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- The internship runs for 10 weeks during the summer of 2027.
- This is a paid position at $21.25 per hour.
