About the role#
This 10-week, full-time internship places you within the USA TODAY newsroom as part of the politics coverage team. You will focus on reporting news that influences candidates on the campaign trail and policy across the country. The program offers hands-on experience in reporting, interviewing, and headline writing, alongside opportunities for training and networking.
What you'll do#
- Write multiple stories each week, covering breaking news, features, and events.
- Conduct interviews and gather information from various sources.
- Produce multimedia content to support your reporting.
- Participate in team brainstorming sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a university journalism program.
- Status as a college junior, senior, or graduate student.
- Strong skills in writing, research, and fact-checking.
- Familiarity with journalistic writing fundamentals and ethics.
- Ability to think critically, adapt to changing news cycles, and pay close attention to detail.
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
