About the role#
The Student Specific Support Aide provides dedicated assistance to students with health, behavioral, or instructional needs. You will work to help students meet their Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and succeed within the school environment. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bessemer City, North Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct support to teachers of students with behavioral needs and exceptional children.
- Assist students with personal, physical, and medical needs, including mobility, bathroom assistance, and cafeteria support.
- Monitor assigned students during extracurricular events, field trips, and bus transportation.
- Collect and report data regarding student progress and the effectiveness of behavior intervention plans.
- Participate in staff development and training to gain knowledge of specific health, behavioral, or instructional procedures.
- Ensure appropriate interventions are consistently maintained and monitored.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma.
- Prior experience in child-care.
- Prior experience working with children or adults who have special learning, behavior, or health-care needs.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally, as the role requires physical activity and classroom management.
- Strong communication skills to build positive relationships with students and school personnel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment in sensitive situations.

- Compensation: Paid position (Grade 53).
- Requirements: Prospective employees must pass a health exam, criminal records check, and drug test. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug testing.
