About the role#
The Student Specific Support Aide provides direct assistance to students with health, behavioral, or instructional needs. The goal of this role is to help students meet their Individual Education Plan (IEP) objectives and succeed within the school environment. You will work closely with teachers, administrators, and service providers to ensure students receive the necessary interventions and support throughout the school day.
What you'll do#
- Provide support for student health and behavioral needs, including assistance in the classroom, cafeteria, and restroom.
- Implement strategies, techniques, and schedules for assigned students as determined by the IEP team.
- Collect and report data on student progress and the effectiveness of intervention plans to teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Monitor assigned students during extracurricular events and accompany them on field trips.
- Assist with physical needs, such as moving students around campus or providing support during bus transit.
- Participate in staff development and training to maintain knowledge of behavioral and instructional procedures.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma.
- Prior experience in child-care.
- Prior experience working with children or adults who have special learning, behavior, or health-care needs.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive student information.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work effectively with school personnel.
