About the role#
Chesapeake Public Schools offers a full-time school psychology internship. This role provides professional educational and psychological services under the supervision of a credentialed school psychologist. The internship spans one academic year and requires at least 1,200 hours. You will work on-site from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and participate in professional development with other practitioners.
What you'll do#
- Provide classroom interventions and conduct student assessments.
- Perform psychological-educational assessments, including data collection and analysis.
- Consult with staff, parents, and administrators regarding student needs.
- Participate in eligibility, pre-referral, and Child Find meetings to develop interventions.
- Work with a Crisis Response team to address school-based incidents.
- Provide training sessions for staff and parents.
- Offer individual and group counseling services to students.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate level school psychology program.
- Ability to perform psychological-educational assessments.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to special education.
- Ability to provide individual and group counseling.
- Capability to perform medium work, including lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent walking or standing.
