About the role#
As an R&D Engineering Co-op, you will support product and process development for new and existing medical equipment and disposables. You will join teams focused on system engineering, hardware mechanical engineering, or disposables engineering. This role offers the opportunity to work independently and take on specific responsibilities within your project team.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the design and development of medical equipment, disposables, and product upgrades.
- Assist with major projects to solve complex technical problems.
- Document all analysis, design, and testing activities while ensuring compliance with design controls.
- Identify and address design and process shortcomings.
- Help the team adopt best practices and design methodologies.
- Debug and develop reliability improvements for current and future products.
- Provide technical support for product engineering, integration, testing, and evaluation.
- Investigate the feasibility of new systems or approaches.
- Follow internal and external standards, quality system regulations, and good manufacturing practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Mechanical, Industrial, Plastics, Electrical, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Intermediate skills in CAD and technical drawing creation.
- A basic understanding of medical device product and process development.
- Experience in an FDA, defense, or ISO regulated environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of system design, electronics, mechanical and software integration, or manufacturing processes.
- Experience with rapid prototyping and traditional manufacturing techniques.
- Strong technical communication skills and attention to detail.
- A constructive approach to teamwork and a commitment to quality and integrity.
- Demonstrated interest in the medical device or pharmaceutical industries.
