About the role#
The Nurse Technician provides basic patient care and support services under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will help with the personal needs and comfort of patients while following established hospital guidelines. This role focuses on assisting the nursing team with daily care tasks and maintaining a safe, orderly environment for patients.
What you'll do#
- Assist with patient admission, discharge, and transfers.
- Measure, collect, and document patient data, reporting any changes in condition to the Registered Nurse.
- Help patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, meals, and mobility.
- Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and special tests.
- Collect and transport patient specimens to the lab.
- Retrieve and deliver medications from the pharmacy or pneumatic tube system.
- Keep patient rooms and nursing stations clean and orderly.
- Perform clinical procedures consistent with your current nursing school training.
- Use hospital equipment safely and manage supplies efficiently.
- Participate in quality improvement programs and follow department standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- For RN students: Completion of your second clinical rotation (Med/Surg) and currently in your Junior or Senior year.
- For LPN students: Completion of your first semester or term.
- Good standing within your nursing program and completion of basic patient skills.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Skills in communication, customer service, and medical terminology.
- Basic computer proficiency.

- This is a full-time position located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
- Work is performed on-site.
- This is a paid internship role.
