About the role#
Flex is seeking an Industrial Engineering Co-Op for the Fall 2026 semester to support continuous improvement initiatives at our Orangeburg, South Carolina site. This role involves hands-on work within our warehouse operations, focusing on process optimization, data analysis, and lean manufacturing principles to support our fulfillment and server assembly teams.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and improve fulfillment workflows, including material flow, packaging, and shipping processes.
- Support assembly and testing operations for servers by focusing on cycle time reduction and quality improvement.
- Collect and analyze production data, such as HPU, throughput, and takt time, to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions.
- Participate in layout design and optimization for assembly and test stations.
- Develop standard work instructions and contribute to process documentation.
- Collaborate with Quality, Production, and Logistics teams to implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Conduct time studies, ergonomic assessments, and capacity planning.
- Assist in tracking and reporting key performance indicators for operational performance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior in an undergraduate Industrial Engineering or related degree program.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement principles.
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data analysis tools.
- Basic understanding of server hardware components.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of process mapping and value stream analysis.
- Experience with simulation tools, such as Arena or FlexSim, is considered a plus.
