About the role#
Flex is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Co-op to join our team in Hollis, New Hampshire. This position is for the Winter 2027 term. You will report to the Engineering Manager and gain experience in concept generation, design for manufacturing, prototyping, and documentation. This is a full-time, on-site role.
What you'll do#
- Work on a variety of medical products, including home health wearables, therapy systems, and surgical robotics.
- Conceptualize, investigate, and develop product architectures, mechanisms, and assemblies.
- Create design solutions using SolidWorks and other analysis software.
- Assemble and test prototypes to inform design decisions and demonstrate performance.
- Collaborate with industrial design and electrical teams to produce successful products.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and help develop assembly process flows.
- Design and build assembly and test tools.
- Document procedures and test results, and present recommendations to internal teams and clients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year accredited university studying Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial, or Systems Engineering.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Standing as a 2nd or 3rd co-op student with applicable mechanical design experience.
- Demonstrated skills with SolidWorks.
- Basic machine shop skills, such as using a mill or lathe.
- Experience designing, setting up, running, and documenting experiments in a lab setting.
- Ability to communicate clearly and use freehand sketching.
- Familiarity with engineering simulation software like MathCAD, Excel, FEA, or CFD is preferred.
- Experience with electromechanical products, medical devices, or tolerance analysis is a plus.

- Location: Hollis, New Hampshire.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January through June).
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site.
