About the role#
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago offers a paid summer internship for students pursuing degrees in fields such as Criminal Justice, International Affairs, or Liberal Arts. This program provides direct exposure to bank operations through project-based work and professional development activities. Interns contribute to their assigned departments while gaining insight into the mission of the Federal Reserve System.
What you'll do#
- Complete project-based assignments within your assigned department.
- Participate in professional development activities aligned with the bank mission.
- Build professional relationships with subject matter experts, bank leadership, and fellow interns.
- Present information verbally and respond to questions from small to medium groups.
- Interpret data and analytics to develop insights and support decision-making.
- Interact professionally with both internal and external clients.
What you'll need#
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status.
- Current enrollment in an accredited program with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- A minimum GPA of 2.75.
- Intermediate working knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated approach to work.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship located in Chicago, Illinois.
- The program requires a commitment of 40 hours per week for 10 to 12 weeks.
- Start dates are June 7, 2027, or June 14, 2027.
- Compensation ranges from $20 to $33 per hour, based on academic level.
- Employment is subject to a background screening process and adherence to bank ethics rules regarding the ownership of certain financial securities.
