About the role#
The Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond is seeking students for a paid internship during the summer of 2027. This role offers exposure to academic and policy-oriented research within a professional environment. You will work alongside economists and Research Associates to gain insight into research careers and the operations of the Federal Reserve.
What you'll do#
- Conduct literature reviews to support ongoing projects.
- Write computer code to analyze time-series and panel data.
- Collaborate with and receive mentorship from Research Associates.
- Support economists across various fields, including macroeconomics, labor economics, financial economics, and regional economics.
- Present on an academic article or your data analysis findings at the conclusion of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- A strong motivation to contribute to academic research.
- Submission of a resume or CV, college transcripts, and a cover letter detailing your research interests and career goals.
- Ability to pass special background check procedures.
- Commitment to the Employee Code of Conduct, including conflict of interest rules and personal investment restrictions.

- Modality: This is an on-site position.
- Employment: Full-time summer internship.
- Compensation: $23.50 per hour.
