About the role#
Farm Bureau Financial Services is hiring two Actuarial Interns for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in West Des Moines, Iowa. You will work directly with our actuarial staff to support basic functions and learn core insurance concepts.
What you'll do#
- Develop rate level and rating factor revisions for annual line of business rate changes.
- Build a working knowledge of automation to validate rating factors, actuarial processes, reports, and exhibits.
- Gather information regarding competitor rating and coverage.
- Use our competitive rating tool and internal data to create reports and maps that analyze competitive prices.
- Study database structures.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or Economics.
- Ability to use SQL and Excel to profile data.
- Interest in developing a working knowledge of automation for validating rating factors.
- Interest in supporting actuarial staff and assisting with basic actuarial functions.
