About the role#
The Events Associate Intern supports the Culture Connections Training Center at Family Connections, Inc. This initiative helps mental health professionals improve their services by applying National CLAS Standards. You will gain hands-on experience in project management, event coordination, and community engagement while supporting the delivery of training programs.
What you'll do#
- Plan and coordinate in-person and virtual training sessions, including scheduling venues and meeting spaces.
- Communicate with participants and presenters to ensure smooth event operations.
- Prepare training materials and provide technical support during sessions.
- Research best practices, policies, and frameworks related to National CLAS Standards.
- Create educational resources, infographics, and guides for mental health organizations.
- Support the Culture Connections newsletter, marketing efforts, and social media outreach.
- Attend planning meetings, document notes, and track follow-up actions.
- Assist with data collection, participant surveys, and program evaluations.
- Provide general administrative and logistical support.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Education, Human Resources, Communications, Event Management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Comfort using Zoom, Microsoft Office, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Canva, Eventbrite, or Microsoft SharePoint is preferred.
- Ability to work well within a team and with community partners.
Location & details#
- Location: East Orange, New Jersey.
- Modality: Hybrid and on-site options available.
- Schedule: 10 to 20 hours per week.
- Term: Rolling (Semester-long, Summer, Fall, or Spring).
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship for students receiving education credit.
