About the role#
Ephemeris Net is seeking engineering interns for the Fall 2026 term to work on core products, including optical terminals for laser communications and space networking services. Interns will be matched to projects based on their background and company needs. You will work alongside the engineering team to contribute to hardware or software that either launches into orbit or advances internal network simulation capabilities.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement optical transceiver FPGA firmware.
- Build a space network simulator.
- Design and fabricate test fixtures for optical terminal prototypes.
- Build high speed optoelectronic communication test equipment.
- Write embedded flight software.
What you'll need#
- Demonstrated ability to build things through personal projects, research, or prior internships.
- Strong fundamentals in embedded systems or FPGA development.
- Prior experience with FPGA development (Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog).
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
- Must be a US person as defined by 15 CFR § 772.1.
Location & details#
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site in Oakland, CA or El Segundo, CA.
- Commitment: Minimum of 3 months, 3 days per week on-site.
- Compensation: Paid position with an annual salary of $70,400, prorated for the length of the internship.
