About the role#
This co-op position is based in Bedford, Massachusetts, for the Winter 2027 term. You will join the R&D group to support design and process engineering for thin film coating applications. This is a 6-month assignment where you will work on equipment development, process improvement, and technical documentation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new coating solutions.
What you'll do#
- Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and assemblies in SolidWorks.
- Partner with process engineers and subject matter experts to develop equipment, tooling, and process solutions.
- Assist with the development, revision, and maintenance of process documentation, including work instructions and manufacturing records.
- Participate in design reviews to evaluate and implement mechanical design improvements.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and internal resources to procure components.
- Support hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of prototypes, fixtures, and equipment improvements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a student in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks design and drafting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with your university requirements for co-op participation.
Location & details#
- Location: Bedford, Massachusetts.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Duration: January through June 2027.
- This position is on-site and full-time.
