About the role#
Emerson is hiring a Software Engineering Spring Co-op for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Shakopee, Minnesota. You will work alongside experienced engineers to design, test, and refine software that powers precision technologies used in industrial automation.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop embedded firmware.
- Prepare detailed plans to complete assignments over several weeks or months.
- Troubleshoot and debug software using unit tests, emulators, simulators, IDEs, and bench testing.
- Perform functional integration testing before handing off work to the test and evaluation team.
- Conduct software design reviews on assigned projects.
- Provide process improvements and recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand firmware requirements.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) in-person.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States. Please note that Emerson does not provide sponsorship for this role.
- Zero years of related experience.
