About the role#
As a Firmware Test Intern, you will join our product development group to test industrial automation products. You will work in a lab setting, applying your academic knowledge to real-world hardware and software scenarios. You will report to the Firmware and Software Test Manager and work on-site on a full-time basis.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop scripts to automate test procedures.
- Execute manual and automated tests to verify product functionality.
- Document test procedures, exceptions, and findings.
- Create formal test reports.
- Assist with lab audits and improvement activities.
- Help build and commission test firmware and hardware platforms.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar field at an accredited university.
- Must be enrolled for at least one more semester following the conclusion of the internship.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
- Ability to commute to the greater Milwaukee area (within 50 miles of the headquarters or Mequon location).
- Basic programming skills in C++, C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Foundational knowledge of circuit theory, including microprocessors, digital logic, analog or DC-power conversion, and programmable devices like FPGAs or CPLDs.
- Experience with power electronics, motors, or industrial automation environments like PLC or drives programming.
- Ability to work with schematic drawings and design capture tools.
- Familiarity with tools such as CAD, Creo Parametric, ERP systems, 3D modeling, SAP, or Matlab.
- Experience using Agile methodology.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in Mequon or Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- The position is full-time and paid, with an hourly rate between $22 and $32 depending on experience and education.
