About the role#
We are seeking a Project Engineer Intern to assist our project teams with the coordination, execution, scheduling, and billing of mechanical and plumbing construction projects. You will support the Project Manager in managing project information, budgeting, and resolving field issues as they arise.
What you'll do#
- Support the Project Manager in driving project flow from inception to completion.
- Review contract and bid documents, attend walk-throughs, and understand project scope.
- Manage project document control, including insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and correspondence.
- Ensure all project documents are saved in the designated software and verify that correct drawings reach the field.
- Support the project schedule, including completion dates, delivery requirements, and manpower needs.
- Track equipment and subcontractor deliveries.
- Facilitate material takeoffs with trade foremen.
- Assist the accounting department with monthly billings, collections, and tracking outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with foremen on project safety, including toolbox talks and weekly site walk-throughs.
- Gather information for changes in work and assist with project closeout, including obtaining as-builts.
- Escalate critical or sensitive issues to the Project Manager with recommendations for resolution.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with employees, management, suppliers, and customers.
- High standards for quality and attention to detail.
- Ability to receive constructive criticism and a willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and project management or document control software is preferred.

- Compensation: $22.00 to $26.00 per hour.
- Majors: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
