About the role#
As a Human Resources Intern, you will gain hands-on experience across multiple HR functions while supporting the daily operations of the team. You will contribute to projects that help maintain an organized, compliant, and positive employee experience. This role offers exposure to recruiting, onboarding, benefits, compliance, and workforce analytics.
What you'll do#
- Provide administrative support including filing, scanning, shredding, organizing records, and preparing documents.
- Assist with HR audits, such as I-9 documentation, benefits records, and employee files.
- Support recruiting by reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and conducting phone screens.
- Facilitate new hire onboarding by preparing materials and assisting with orientation.
- Maintain accurate employee information within the HRIS and other systems.
- Assist with HR reporting, data collection, and analysis regarding workforce trends and metrics.
- Support employee engagement by helping plan and execute company events, wellness activities, and recognition programs.
- Help with benefits administration and gain an understanding of enrollment processes.
- Support compliance activities while learning about employment laws and company policies.
- Handle employee questions and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
- A strong interest in building a career in Human Resources.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professionalism and the ability to handle confidential information.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- A willingness to learn new systems and processes.
- Previous experience in an internship, administrative, customer service, or office role is preferred.
- Previous coursework in HR, employment law, business, or data analysis is a plus.
- Familiarity with HRIS or applicant tracking systems is helpful.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time position located in Bridgewater, Virginia.
- The pay rate is $12.77 per hour.
- This role is fully on-site.
- You must be available for a minimum of 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
- This internship may be completed for academic credit.
