About the role#
The Business Operations Application Development Intern will design and build a web-based application to consolidate flight operations and aircraft asset tracking. You will work to replace manual tracking processes with reliable workflows and reporting. You will report to the Digital Transformation Manager and operate on-site at our Bridgewater facility.
What you'll do#
- Meet with business users to identify workflows, pain points, and reporting needs.
- Translate requirements into user stories, prototypes, and working application features.
- Develop web-based forms, dashboards, notifications, and approval workflows.
- Build connections to internal databases using SQL queries, views, or APIs.
- Use approved AI coding platforms to accelerate development, while remaining responsible for testing, documenting, and understanding all generated code.
- Map and reconcile data across source systems to ensure accuracy.
- Validate application behavior, calculations, and data logic with technical and business reviewers.
- Write test cases, correct defects, and maintain a clear development backlog.
- Create documentation including setup instructions, data dictionaries, and user guidance.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical or computer engineering, data science, information systems, or a related field.
- Foundational programming experience in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or Java.
- Basic understanding of relational databases, SQL, APIs, data structures, and software testing.
- Ability to work independently, ask questions, and communicate progress clearly.
- Experience building applications or features using modern web frameworks, databases, or data-visualization libraries.
- Experience with Git, GitHub, and AI coding assistants.
- Interest in aviation, finance, operations research, or logistics.
Location & details#
- Location: Bridgewater, Virginia.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Winter 2027 (approximately early November to mid-February).
- Schedule: Minimum of 10 hours per week.
- Compensation: $12.77 per hour.
