    About the role#

    This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027. You will work on-site to assist experienced technicians with the construction and maintenance of transmission lines and substations. You will gain exposure to how the power grid operates and help keep systems reliable for customers.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist higher-level technicians with daily construction and maintenance activities.
    • Learn to operate bucket trucks, digger derrick trucks, and other aerial devices.
    • Develop a basic understanding of AC and DC principles, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
    • Follow company safety rules and practice isolation and grounding procedures for equipment.
    • Gain exposure to transmission and distribution system switching.
    • Read and interpret electrical drawings, including schematics and power system diagrams.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an Engineering Technology or related degree program with a graduation date after August 2027.
    • A valid State Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a CDL Class A license.
    • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
    • Capability to work on elevated surfaces.
    • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
    • A weight restriction of 275 pounds applies to ensure the safe use of weight-rated equipment.
    • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

    Location & details#

    • Locations: Leland, NC; Raleigh, NC; and Florence, SC.
    • This position requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without sponsorship.
