About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in the Electric Distribution Design Department. You will work under the guidance of a supervisor or mentor to support the design and maintenance of electrical infrastructure. This position involves a mix of office work and field inspections, with approximately 60% of your time in the office and 40% in the field.
What you'll do#
- Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems based on customer load requirements.
- Create time and cost estimates for the construction and maintenance of subdivisions.
- Inspect job sites to determine metering requirements and identify tree-trimming needs.
- Prepare property sketches, service agreements, and required permits for joint use or highway and railroad crossings.
- Obtain necessary right-of-way and easement agreements.
- Communicate project requirements to customers and assist with service restoration in the field during outages.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year degree program, with a graduation date of Spring 2028 or later.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Preferred degrees include Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Business, Education, or Liberal Arts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills, with AutoCAD experience as a plus.
- Strong math, technical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and interact professionally with customers.
- A valid driver's license.
- Physical ability to perform field tasks such as walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and standing for extended periods.
