About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join our integrated design team to contribute to mechanical systems for buildings of various types and sizes. You will work alongside mechanical engineers and professionals across architecture, interiors, and other disciplines. This is a paid, full-time position that runs from May 18 through August 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with a licensed engineer to design mechanical systems for new construction and building renovations.
- Attend design team meetings to observe coordination across a multi-disciplinary team.
- Assist with the design and development of construction documents, primarily using Revit.
- Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs from concept through completion.
- Visit an active construction site, depending on project status.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least one year in an ABET-accredited Mechanical or Architectural Engineering program.
- Experience or interest in BIM workflows, such as Autodesk Revit MEP.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Preference is given to third-year students.
- Preference is given to those who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- An interest in architectural building design is preferred.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Des Moines, Iowa, or Omaha, Nebraska.
- The position is on-site with a hybrid schedule, following a four-day in-office model with flexibility on Fridays.
