About the role#
As a Theater Planning Intern, you will join our integrated design team to contribute to the design of theatrical lighting, drapery, and rigging systems. You will work alongside professionals across architecture, engineering, interiors, and acoustics. This role provides hands-on experience with the design process from early concepts through construction administration. You will participate in our Emerging Professional Experience (EPX) Program, which includes mentorship, project work, and weekly learning sessions.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with architects and engineers within our integrated design process.
- Support needs-assessment and early project planning efforts.
- Provide guidance on mechanical, structural, and electrical requirements for performance spaces.
- Assist senior staff with project design reviews, documentation, and equipment assessments.
- Learn BIM tools, technology, and project workflows.
- Develop concepts, calculations, and project execution strategies.
- Perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling using Autodesk Revit.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as at least a third-year student in an accredited Architecture, Design, Theater, or related program.
- Experience with drafting programs like Revit or AutoCAD.
- Basic knowledge of theatrical production practices and performance-related equipment systems.
- Strong knowledge of at least one theatrical system is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Goal-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving and creative skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- Location: Los Angeles, California.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 18 through August 6).
- Work Modality: Hybrid (four days in-office, with flexibility on Fridays).
- Status: Paid, full-time internship.
