About the role#
The Building Electrical Group at Dennis Group designs electrical systems for industrial food and beverage facilities. As an intern, you will work on projects involving power distribution, lighting, and fire protection systems. This role includes both office-based design work and fieldwork at project sites.
What you'll do#
- Design building power systems, including emergency and standby power distribution.
- Perform and document calculations for short circuits and power loads.
- Design lighting for food processing areas and coordinate fixture placement with other trades.
- Create fire alarm system designs that meet NFPA codes.
- Assist the team in managing the electrical bid process for clients.
- Travel to project sites for fieldwork, audits, and meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in an electrical engineering or related bachelor's degree program.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Access.
- Familiarity with three-phase power, the National Electric Code, and wireless radio systems.
- Experience or familiarity with designing lighting, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage systems.

- Travel: Up to 25% travel required for site visits.
- Compensation: Paid internship with a rolling term.
