About the role#
Dennis Group is looking for a Structural Engineer Co-Op or Intern to join our team in Duluth, Georgia, for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position focused on the design and construction of industrial food and beverage facilities. You will work on-site to ensure our structures are safe and durable.
What you'll do#
- Apply knowledge of materials and construction techniques to project designs.
- Perform hand calculations and build computer analysis models for structural tasks.
- Document design loads, including gravity, wind, and seismic requirements.
- Work with common structural framing and foundation systems.
- Draft sketches and contract drawings using AutoCAD.
- Review project documentation, shop drawings, and submittals for quality assurance.
- Conduct field inspections and prepare detailed reports.
- Coordinate structural work with other disciplines and perform material take-offs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior in a Civil or Structural Engineering degree program.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Experience or coursework in structural and concrete drafting using AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in performing structural design calculations and creating analysis models.
- An EIT or FE certification is desirable.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed, approximately 15 days per year.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and work at a desk for extended periods.
