About the role#
The Civil Engineer Intern role supports land development and infrastructure projects for food and beverage facilities. You will work within the Building Systems department alongside structural engineers and architects to design site foundations, building pads, and utility systems. This position requires site visits to observe field conditions and solve design constraints.
What you'll do#
- Perform design tasks and assist with permit applications, drawings, and CAD work.
- Develop parking lot layouts that meet local development ordinances.
- Prepare storm drainage reports and engineering calculations.
- Assist with the development of contract bid lists and evaluate incoming bids.
- Visit project sites to observe field conditions and resolve design constraints.
- Perform basic construction administration tasks such as submittal reviews.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in Civil Engineering or a related degree.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Up to 3 years of experience or coursework in civil engineering for industrial construction.
- Up to 3 years of experience or coursework in drainage, grading, and utility design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Location & details#
- This internship is based in Springfield, Massachusetts.
- The term is Summer 2027.
- This is a full-time, on-site, paid position.
- You must be able to travel to project sites up to 25 percent of the time.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
