About the role#
Dennis Group hires Civil Engineer Interns to support land development and infrastructure projects within the food and beverage industry. You will join our Building Systems department, working alongside architects and structural engineers to design building pads, foundations, and site utilities. This position involves both office-based design work and field observations at project locations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with basic design tasks and the preparation of permit applications.
- Learn to navigate sets of drawings and develop discipline-specific plan literacy.
- Perform construction administration duties, including the review of submittals.
- Prepare engineering calculations and storm drainage reports.
- Visit project sites to observe field conditions and evaluate design constraints.
- Support procurement tasks like bid tabulation and contractor communication.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in a Civil Engineering degree program.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Up to 3 years of experience or coursework in civil engineering tasks, including drainage, grading, and utility design.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Ability to travel to project sites for approximately 25% of the time.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and spend extended periods working at a computer.
